ROLAND — All condition, Roland has found a way to win.
In Friday’s 3A-7 showdown against Checotah, the Rangers — who were
twice down by 14 points — were on the ready to of pulling out yet
another win in the closing moments.
The Wildcats, however, stopped Roland on fourth down with 56
seconds formerly larboard to escape with a 35-29 win against the previously
unbeaten Rangers.
“We were behind two multifarious times in the game by 14 points, we
made a strong comeback and we showed a lot of toughness, we took a
lot of proudness in it, we played together real well,” Roland coach
Jeff Streun said. “I was unbiased real happy about the effort, this
team’s totally singular than it was a year ago and obviously, we
wished we could’ve come out of the front end of it, but they just
made one more bigger depict than we did and I think our football team
will learn a lot from it.”
Checotah (5-1, 3-0) had entranced a 35-21 lead late in the third
quarter on Deondre Owens’ third TD overhaul of the night. But the
Rangers (5-1, 1-1) answered on the next series.
