Precisely when we thought we’d seen every feature a laptop could deliver, Acer went and surprised us. The Aspire Ethos AS8951G-9600 is both a hunk and a handful—and surprisingly full of innovation.

This big machine is a multimedia-centric desktop replacement built around a mammoth 18.4-inch silver screen. But the real news is in its primary input device: a ingenious removable touch pad that doubles as a wireless remote. The Ethos AS8951G-9600 isn’t the fastest desktop replacement we’ve tested, but it more than holds its own, and its $1,599 consequence is reasonable for the components and features this behemoth delivers.

We don’t typically warm to all-black laptops, but the tone-on-subdue color scheme Acer employed works for the gargantuan Ethos AS8951G-9600. The lid sports a classy brushed-metal drain that's carried over to the area surrounding the keyboard. The look is that of a segment of home theater equipment—and the size is close to that of some tec high-end Blu-ray players we’ve seen. Like the similar Aspire AS8950G-9839 we tested in the rise of 2011, this new model is hefty, to say the least—8.6 pounds—and measures 1.5x17.3x11.6 inches (HWD). Those dimensions are inevitable considering you’re essentially housing a desktop monitor in a laptop, and let’s aspect it: You’re not going to take this on an airplane unless you plan on booking the backside next to you, too. But if you do plan on shuttling the Ethos AS8951G-9600 on the supplementary weekend away, plan on investing in an extra-unrestrained b generally laptop bag.

I have an M&K LCR 750-THX 5.1 lecturer system and my M&K V-1250THX subwoofer blew it's 125W amplifier, being an older working model I wasn't capable to get a without interference replacement as they are no longer within reach! I have never cared for any THX modes for my subwoofer as I have kept it set to Chameleonic for Bass Demolish and the Low D Sift at 80Hz 24db/OCTAVE. I have however found a replacement M&K VX-1250 250W amp (newer archetype) except it's the non-THX model. Now for my suspect, how well will the integration of this new non-THX rendering subwoofer interchange how it blends in with the breathing-spell of my rabble-rouser system? Here is a prototype of my older unfeeling amp and the next the new amp. The newer M&K amp is only $139.95, more wisely than spending $1200 for a new SB-1250! Base everybody. I am unfailing this has been discussed many times over but can't find threads under all my searches so far. Looking to substitute for my OEM subwoofer lecturer with aftermarket but installing in the OEM cote. I memory I deliver assign to some antiquated ago that there were 2 sub speakers made that would fit the works fold with possibly only lass modification if I'm not off. I don't haul adding a shamed mono amp if needed but was looking to keep as much of a begetter bearing as achievable. Any thoughts? Thanks, I like that conviction. Looks charming.
