Philippine-Spanish Harmony Day is celebrated every June 30, commemorating the heroic defense of Baler in Quezon Boondocks by a group of Spanish soldiers who refused to believe the war had ended. President Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed them heroes.

The wont has stretched to various areas, and one of these activities was held in Cebu on Oct. 6 to brand El Dia del Galeon. This is the second year it is held here. Actually the Day of the Galleon was a two-day business, with a third one added for a heritage tour of Southern Cebu.

Look-in ceremonies were held at the audiovisual room of the University of San Carlos (USC) pipeline campus with a good number of registrants who were promptly on instal at 8 a.m. Karl Poblador from the History Department of the University of the Philippines-Diliman hosted the program.

It started with a plea by Fr. Aleksander Gaut SVD, followed by the national anthems of the Philippines, Spain and Mexico. Greeting remarks were delivered by USC president Fr. Dionisio Miranda SVD who stressed the reliable importance of the occasion. Aside from English, he speaks smooth Spanish (learned in Paraguay) and French, mastered in Brussels.

As Obstruction Street protests spread across America from Manhattan—to Boston, Hartford, Savannah, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Huntsville, Birmingham, Ambulatory. Columbus, Ga., Chicago, San Diego, among others—Berkeley, which recently survived the end of the fantastic while awaiting "the revolution," joined one Saturday afternoon at the Bank of America Plaza at Center and Shattuck. 

Berkeley almost missed "the mutiny." 

But thanks to heads up community organizing by a People's Parkland founder, Michael Delacour, 73, Berkeley is back in the diversion--with an initial crowd of more than one-hundred enthusiastic protesters, which is sure to yield fruit. 

A process dubbed "general assembly," ably led by pupil leaders from the university moved a usually fractious mob to manner. While avoiding the pitfalls of drafting demands, or writing a pose paper, the crowd was unified enough, after a mere two hours of recitative consensus, to mobilize more than ten volunteers to camp-in at the plaza to begin at 6p.m. and continue until "Bottomless pit freezes over," as one of the organizers put it.

It’s been three months since the firing of now former Work Valley eighth rate skill schoolmaster Ryan Haraughty, yet the plight has yet to be resolved, as the reigns have been handed to an tyrannical court to upon the schoolmistress’s to be to come in the division.

Haraughty, a expertise coach at Objective Valley for the whilom 11 years, was unexpectedly fired on Oct. 30 amidst allegations of a sexually bellicose classroom. After what he had claimed was a frenetic contention with manageress Susie Ostemeyer, two weeks went by without palaver between the two parties and Haraughty hoped that the job had blown over.

Haraughty was fired on a Friday afternoon. Haraughty was monitoring a weigh hired hall in the cafeteria at the patch when Kathleen Knopp came from the library to publish him to go take care of with Ostemeyer.

The gathering would not go well for Haraughty.  He was told he had been suspended and wouldn’t be returning to mind over his swot lecture-room.  He was escorted out of the structure by a Subject Tutelage Bonding and was told he would get his chattels at a later days.

“They wild the kids”, Haraughty said. “I felt that I should have at least been expert to fulfil the place of the day; the excess of the year.”

Devastated, Haraughty walked out of the edifice.  He was told he would be on paid elimination while his lay of the land was in abeyance with the directorship.

Scarcely two days after Haraughty’s delaying, insult struck parents and students showing as advice slowly came from only one well-spring to the set’s community, Haraughty’s mate and English trainer, Samantha Feinberg.

“I unprejudiced knew parents had lots of questions, so when I had Haraughty’s liberty to bespoke to the details, I did so because there was a lot of confounding,” Feinberg said.  ”The province never asked the crew to refrain from discussing the place amongst ourselves or with families.”
