ADAT carries 8 channels in one guidance, but what about TOSLINK? I believe it is a max of 3 channels in one direction, but can anyone please verify this?
Toslink is another name for optical s/pdif. You can plainly send 5.1 channels over s/pdif

We have a Presonus Firestudio setup in our particular auditorium that we have configured to report up to 26 channels at once or fiddle with back up to 10 channels. I would like something be like but much more small without the mic preamps and multiple ADAT connectors. Objective 1 in/out (8 channels) of each is all I'm looking for in this contraption so I could do elementary multitrack recording or playback from our other consoles. Optionally, if it had a SPDIF in/out as well, that would be okay, but I in reality don't pine for any analog I/O. I ended up settling on a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. It's a half pain component and is larger than I poverty, but it gives perfectly a few input and yield options and includes an ADAT input. It doesn't have an ADAT put out, but with the other harvest options it has, I'll turn out to be it employment. I considered the M-Audio 1814, since it has both ADAT in and out, but it was rather a bit more than I was assenting to dish out.
