여기 소개하는 K-49는 Korg가 염가 마스터건반 시장을 겨냥해 발매한 K-시리즈 마스터건반중의 하나이며 정식명칭은 K-49 USB-Midi Studio Controller라고 거창하게 붙여져 있다. 이미 잘 알려져있는 제품이기도 한데 이 K-49 마스터건반은 당연히 내장음원은 없지만 그 라인업중 K-61P 처럼 음원이 내장된 마스터건반도 있다. 하지만 여기서는 그에 대한 것은 생략하기로 한다.

사실 리뷰라고 쓸 것이 없을 정도로 상당히 간단한 제품이다. 필자가 이 제품을 구입하게 된 가장 큰 이유중의 하나도, '최소한의 구성으로 이루어진 심플한 마스터건반'이었기 때문이다. 기능성을 고려하자면야 컨트롤 놉들이 많다 못해 주렁주렁 설치된 제품들도 있겠지만, 일단 그것은 필자가 찾는 제품이 아니고, 구입동기가 '심플한 마스터 건반' 그리고 바이러스 B 데스크탑에 바짝 붙여놓고 마치 바이러스 B의 건반인양 사용할 것이 필요했기 때문이다. 게다가 VSTI의 연주나 프로그래밍시의 음색 테스트 등등의 목적이 부차적인 목적이었기도 하다. 이전에는 정말 많아서 구입이 그다지 어려워 보이지 않았던 이 제품이 현재는 절판이 되어서 정말 구하기가 어렵다. 그나마 K-61은 간혹 보이기는 하는데, 61건반은 필자의 작업실 공간에서는 너무 커서 대상에서 제외했다. 물론 다른 49건반의 마스터건반도 몇 가지 마음에 드는 것이 있긴 했지만 일단 K-49를 목표로 삼은 이상... 다 제외해버리고, 결국 찾다 찾다가 Audiomidi.com까지 가서 주문을 하게 되었다.  그리고 제품값보다 더 비싼 운송료를 물어가면서까지 구입하게 된 것이다.

설치 및 연결 건반 뒷면에 보면 전원 선택스위치가 있고 미디 아웃, 그리고 USB 케이블 연결구, 페달 연결구, DC 전원 입력구 등이 있는데, 필자는 그냥 USB 케이블 하나만 꽂아 사용하고 그외에는 연결할 것이 없다. USB 케이블로 사용하면 USB 버스파워로 전원이 충당되니 별도 전원은 연결할 필요없다.
