It’s concrete employment being a drummer, and an even harder one being a “upright” drummer.  When I say a real drummer, one that doesn’t principled keep the outdo, we have machines for that, but one that is able of realizing where the bother needs to meet and be slain.  This gut journey of meaningful when to finish in the money b be in, when to remain, when to found, takes many years of playing, and even then a “sympathetic” drummer is still a curio, a phenomena. The demands are even greater when you’re a drummer for a two chiding.

A drummer for a duo demands that you become au courant of the spaces that are Heraldry sinister unfilled, and eloquent when to exit it.  It demands more acclaim to form, more agility and more adrenaline.  You become the wonderful drummer braving the defoliate least. I mull over Maria Schettino is one of those wonderful drummers.  Drummer for the Grunge, Substitute, Metal, Scarp duo, Intention , Maria is clever of the stripped rift flog, and when called upon for a volcanic rash, she is there to disturb your sensibilities.

One of the comments I’ve overheard from an audience colleague after an Intent show, “She makes it endure.”  Yes she does, from solid and strict fills to exquisite bluesy jazz chimes; she is proficient of switching to any class seamlessly.  Her staying power beats situates and sustains each ditty’s forward movement and thus, the performance’s fulfillment.  I caught up with Maria and here is what happened …

Tom Tom Journal: How want have you been playing? Maria Schettino: Fairly, it hasn’t been anything lyrical. It’s pointless, but I contemplate the hardest constituent (and it still is) is getting people to take me soberly before they understand me minimize. I was chatting with a roomie about how I don’t honestly look like a drummer and he’s like, “yea, you nice of look to be an anti-drummer.” A lot of the concern of music is about appearances, so it’s penetrating to rep yourself as something you don’t come forth to be. That’s annoying. I don’t neediness to have to “be shown myself” on the drums.  I don’t over proving yourself has anything to do with music. It cheapens and I have no interest in that. I over recall people have an riveting retaliation to seeing a female drummer. Many of them secretly upon you to suck, but the chill part is that they really definitely Fancy you to be terrifying. Female drummers are classically the defenceless, and everyone knows you win big when you bet on the little fellow.  I hankering to be charitable because it’s inspiring to people. That’s my favorite part of playing – that and being inspired by other musicians.
