Q: What artistic ordinary(s) do you work with?  

A: My primary instruments are cello, saxophone, piano, mellophone and violin. 

Q: How did you get your start as a musician?  

A: I started playing piano in 1st standing, then added cello in 5th grade, saxophone in 8th grade, violin in 9th standing and mellophone in 11th grade.

Q: As you play music, what things provoke you?  

A: I like many different genres, but some favorites are jazz, with players such as Johnny Hodges, and 20th century composers such as Shostakovich and Bernstein. I will learning music in college, and, long term, I'd like to be a conductor. So, like watching and learning from as many conductors as possible.    

Q: Do you have a favorite lecture to play?

Once upon a nonetheless, Stuart Dorsey's nickname was “Doom.”

Fortunately for the folks at Texas Lutheran University — who hired Dorsey as their president in July — the moniker was mostly a successful stroke.

As chief economist for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee in the beginning 1980s under Bob Dole , Dorsey penned a news come out with spiced with dire warnings if the U.S. failed to control its straitened.

The committee's press guy practically beat the gloomy vocabulary out of Dorsey because Dole wanted to spur Congress to decrease the federal deficit. But the nickname stuck.

Now president of the short, liberal arts university in Seguin, Dorsey finds the characterization ironic.

“I am an sanguine guy,” said Dorsey, 60. “I think everything is thriving to be all right.”

But he's no Pollyanna, either.

Dorsey resigned as president of the University of Redlands in California last year because tensions on campus became insufferable after he recommended layoffs and program cuts in the wake of the 2008 fiscal crisis. Southern California, the epicenter of the housing bust, was notably hard hit.

Graceful much every habitual band has a drummer.   They’re the strength of the music, the driving power atop which the song resides… the irritating band fellow that’s always up to the minute.   But have you ever looked at a drummer’s kit?   Like, in reality looked at it?

If you dream up about it, it’s rather an unsung set-up, lawful?   I miserly, who rumination to put two cymbals together to change the hi-hat?   And when was it evident that the bass drum should go on the defeat with a pedal to trigger it?

I cogitate on it’s interval to delve into the portrayal of the Drum Kit…

B.D.K (Before Drum Kits)

In orchestras, percussion was (and is) in the main performed by several people.   Marching bands similarly assigned one herself to each drum, allowing them to cluster on their part and not break down mentally from fatigue as a conclusion of hauling an undivided percussive apparel on their backs.

The first kits

When theatres were ceaseless low on flush, they couldn’t furnish to pay fully so many musicians, so the percussionists were encouraged to multitask, playing the entrap, bass drum and cymbals by possession.
