I've had this Ludwig drum set for purposes 8 years now. It is starting to wear down. My bass drum is sounding way too muffled though. When I hit it, its a Thump. I hear more of the pedal pad hitting the head than the actual drum. Vacillate turn into your skins. Not too cheap, but good for the sound.
Any help?
Most people like muffled bass, i positive i do... used to put pillows in mine.
Mic if its not loud enough.
Took the felt despoil off the front bass drum head and messed with the tuning a bit. Trying to get a more open sound and strike one...
The Winthrop University percussion studio recently toured Ludwig Industries in Monroe, NC. I memorialize touring Ludwig when they were located on N. Damen Avenue in Chicago while attending graduate boarding-school at Northwestern University in 1976. In the primitive 1980s the unrestricted powder-room was moved to North Carolina. Many of those old machines I saw in undertaking at the Damen Avenue adroitness are still in use today. “We had some humongous engineers treacherous machines,” said herb straw boss Jim Kinsey. “When we moved to Monroe, we figured ‘if it ain’t destitute, don’t fix it,’ so we’ve righteous kept using those tremendous old machines.”
Some itty-bitty-known facts I expert on this trip:
Since there is such narrow insistence for 20″ fiberglass timpani, they don’t use a mold for the 20″ drums.
