To Do: See Margot & the Nuclear So and So's...check.

I arrived at Bottletree a short bit early with my friend, probably the only one who would've really enjoyed the show with me, and waited. Truthfully, I'd been waiting for this show since weighty school. They have been on my to-see list for a while but I just hadn't ever made it happen. This was my unendingly!

Two local bands, Red Harp and the Delicate Cutters opened. I singularly enjoyed Red Harp's sound, incorporating a saxophone into the penniless 'n' roll wailings of the lead singer. Admittedly, I was with a bun in the oven to be disappointed with a short set by Margot due to a double opener, but by the end of the show disappointment was nowhere to be found.

As I stood smooshed up against the point (I was that girl, the one who moved up when people tried to get in front of me), I looked behind me to see how many people had showed up. It was nice-looking packed out, more than I expected, and the energy levels were even higher.

The bandeau opened with several songs from Buzzard , their most recent album, full of head rock 'n' roll guitar jams and even crazier obscure and brooding (and sometimes funny, see: "Tiny Vampire Robot") lyrics. With a full tier – drums, keys, pedal steel/violin, electric guitar, bass and cable guitar – the band put forth a sound that almost physically blew me back. It engulfs you, firstly at a place like Bottletree.

, On Barsuk Records.  Nearby band Sundrop Electric opened the show at 9:30 p.m. and teeth of their best efforts, most people seemed to be politely waiting for the touring bands to work hand in glove.  Sundrop Electric is comprised of obviously adept musicians, but together they create a sound that follows the beaten indie jar path and failed to engage the crowd.  A lone unite danced to some of their songs, but no one else budged.

Boston-bred and New York-based strip Hooray For Earth went on second, and accidentally upstaged the headliners.  The crowd energetically responded to the confederate’s mix of analog and synth sounds – a dive that is very current, and a sound they pull off with a lot of skill.  Chorister/guitarist Noel Heroux sent his guitar signal through numerous effects pedals, and was at times adept to make it sound like a synth.  Drummer Joseph Ciampini played an analog drum set, but accentuated the songs with an electronic drum
