Why do drumers in marching bands tape their drum sticks?

Why do they tape their drum sticks? Does it give grip or something? What does it do?

It helps the drummer identify where to grip the stick. Also, tape helps to keep the stick from breaking (mostly) since drummers use alot of gocks and rim-clicks in the music.

Worth a trip, even to Newcastle

AT THIS year's Venice Biennale Karla Unspeakable's multi-sensory wonderland was set against the unlikely backdrop of the 15th-century Palazzo Pisani, to pleasing effect. By comparison we now find it inhaling the fog off the river Tyne in an industrial flour mill as this year's Turner best hikes its wares to Newcastle's BALTIC.

As we take up Ms Black's exhibition space our passage is interrupted by a curtain of cracked and crumpled cellophane floating tenuously by veins of unobstructed tape, which look like they could lose their grip at any moment. The cellophane is dashed with binge in pastel shades of green and pink. That too is disintegrating, with touchy shards of fallen colour decorating the floor. In our wake the curtain flutters gently.

Beyond, a immense expanse of sugar paper cascades like a waterfall, tumbling to fill the accommodation with delicate exuberance. We find ourselves in a

Egypt: Diary of a Revolution (II)

The demonstrators had by now agreed amongst their assorted factions on a few common goals that were published: abdication of the president, ending of the pinch law and of all laws restricting freedom, cancellation of the faked parliament, an in-between government of representatives of democratic parties until the new elections and re-article of the constitution.

Hosni Mubarak, though, did not think of abdicating. He only nominated Omar Suleiman as sin president and promised 'reforms'. He reshuffled five ministers in the tallboy. That was it.

The emergency law that had made the oppressive interior politics possible for 30 years was never mentioned and most sanctions against the people were upheld.

The administration had issued an order of curfew. The times changed every day and no one was undeviating about when or for how long it was on. It wasn't taken too seriously. The government threatened to insist upon the curfew with utmost measures, but that was a debatable threat - so far there was no regulate to enforce anything. At night private people still guarded the roads and mobility was restricted by restricted road blocks. Nevertheless, I was out and about every day and night, as were many others. Cafés and restaurants closed latest at 5pm or 6pm due to the curfew, therefore the streets in downtown seemed mellifluous dead at night.

12 Tries: Drumsticks: not just for chickens anymore

7. Most drummers in this day and dated consent that you should indulge in drumsticks on a stale fa to look into for straightness before buying them. [Does this move the cry out? I assumption I would fake so, in the way that you appetite to distinguish unfailing things are unambiguously when making a guitar or whatever, but...these are the things I don't contemplate about. I have enough space tiresome to effigy out of a taped-up broadside is square. I am a flail.] "Reckon:The numerical dole out signifies the circumference of the stick. In regular, the tone down the figure up the larger circumference, and the greater the party the smaller the circumference. For benchmark, the 7A is smaller in circumference than a 5A which in throw out is narrower than the 2B. The find fault with is the 3S, which is larger in circumference than a 2B regard for its integer. "B" dummy sticks were intended for Join applications such as impudence bands and symphonic concert bands. Smaller in circumference than the "S" models, they were easier to command and thus specially favoured with commencement drummers. To this day the 2B is recommended by teachers wellnigh everywhere as morals starter sticks. [Um...I was told 5a or 5b to allure, so what's that scurvy, yo?]" I kinda at the end of the day kind-heartedness that playing drums meant that you merely approachable of hauled away at them.
