On Friday, January 15th, in the Wilsey Court of the de Innocent Museum , sign up with Idris Ackamoor and Frederick Harris as they tender the music of the Pyramids, Idris’s groundbreaking 1970s African jazz set, which self-produced three albums and received intercontinental acclaim. There will be two sets: 6:30–7:15 and 7:45–8:30 p.m. The evening’s lyrical repertoire will spotlight compositions that can be heard on the lately-released reissues of the Pyramids’ albums  Lalibela, Monarch of Kings, and Descent/Run/Merging, as well as new originals. Idris will bring to light his array of African percussion instruments, invented instruments, and new melodic directions, featuring Baba Duru  on congas and percussion; former fellow of the Pyramids Kash Killion on bass; Waahid on drums and percussion; with intimate guests Rhodessa Jones, actress, and Joanna Haigood, dancer and choreographer.

Cultural Odyssey was founded by Idris Ackamoor, Kingpin President, in 1979 and joined by Rhodessa Jones, Co-Artistic Principal, in 1983.
